About the Scream

In 2021, I learned to sew. At the time, I didn't know I would discover a passion and that, with it, I would give a new purpose to my hands. It is with these hands that in 2024, I create Grita. For my pieces, I use old and used household fabrics, mainly tablecloths, but also curtains, sheets, among other fabrics I find at fairs and antique shops that I visit throughout the country.

All pieces are made by me, in Serpins (Lousã), and in this project, as in everything in life, I count on the help of my mother who, like my grandmother, I have always seen surrounded by threads and needles. At Grita, I strive to make the best and simplest use of the fabrics and materials I use. I aim for each piece to be unique and special. My greatest pleasure comes from the process of discovering small-big works of art hidden in drawers or chests smelling of mothballs. I have no way of knowing who made them or what stories they tell, but Grita helps me to take them out of the drawer and show them to the world, honoring those who created them.

Grita is a registered trademark and a handmade product certified by Cearte. For me, the brand's founder, it is already a full-time job and an extra income for my mother. Therefore, by buying from Grita, you are supporting a business and contributing to the evolution of a project to which we are wholeheartedly dedicated.

To those who follow me here and to those who have supported Grita, thank you very much ❤️

Cristina
